The UAE's Tawazun is to take control of procurement management for the UAE Armed Forces in a resolution signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan on 24 February at IDEX. Tawazun CEO Tareq Abdulraheem al-Hosani told Janes the organisation will manage procurement for the armed forces and Abu Dhabi police, as well as other bodies that include the Presidential Guard and Critical National Infrastructure Protection Force. "Here we see a lot of synergies that can avoid the duplication of before because of the independence of the system," Al-Hosani said. "At the same time we [can] provide better procurement plans and savings across different projects … synergising the supply chain and having a homogeneous system rather than scattered procurement."
