The Croatian government announced it had selected second-hand French Rafale F3-Rs to replace its MiG-21 fighters on 28 May. The 10 Rafale single seaters and two twin seaters are to arrive in Croatia in 2024. The aircraft, including a simulator, pilot training, spare parts, and basic weaponry, will cost a total of EUR999 million (USD1.2 billion), which will be paid before the end of 2025. The contract remains to be negotiated and concluded before the end of this year, so it is still not clear how much Croatia has to invest in the new infrastructure needed for the aircraft.
