摘要

There has been a considerable shift in the way naval vessels are being demilitarised and demolished over the past decade due to environmental, strategic and economic considerations, shipbreaking agents have told IHS Jane's. This shift has resulted in a significant drop in the number of naval ships that are being sent across national borders for demolition, explained Rohit Goyanka, Managing Director of Star Asia Shipbroking Pte. The Singapore-based company bids for and purchases mainly decommissioned bulk carriers, product tankers and naval vessels from companies and governments in the region and sends the ships to South Asia for demolition.
