The US Navy (USN) has begun a second phase of manned aircraft launch tests using the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) land-based prototype at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. Aircraft Compatibility Testing Phase 2 (ACT 2) commenced on 25 June with the launch of a Boeing EF-18G Growler. This marked the first EMALS launch of an EA-18G - the electronic attack variant of the F/A-18F Super Hornet - and means that every carrier-borne aircraft in the USN inventory has now been launched from the system.
