1. India is planning the in-country build of four amphibious assault ships 2. The LPD will leverage a proven design pedigree India is advancing plans for the indigenous construction of a new class of landing platform dock (LPD) with the acquisition of four ships under a '2+2' strategy. A request for information (Rfl) was released on 11 February under the Buy and Make (Indian) category of the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2011, with responses due for return by 7 March this year.
