摘要

The effect of permeability variation on the heat transfer and the flow through a highly porous medium bounded by an infinite flat porous surface with constant suction is investigated. The problem becomes three-dimensional due to the transverse periodic variation of the permeability. For an asymptotic flow through a highly permeable medium the expressions for velocity, temperature, skin friction and the rate of heat transfer are obtained by using perturbation technique. The important characteristics of the problem, the skin friction factor and the rate of heat transfer factor are discussed in detail. It is found that with the increase of the permeability of the medium both the skin friction and the rate of heat transfer factors decrease significantly.
