The development of a new atmospheric pressure (AP) plasma technology for continuous, on-line industrial processing is described. The plasma type utilised is distinguished from those used by the existing AP, non-thermal equilibrium (cool) plasma corona and flame treatment technologies. Equipment sub-systems are outlined and a description given of surface activation and coating processes achieved.
