摘要

This study discusses about physico-chemical parameters of drinking water in Musiri and Thuraiyur taluk. The ground water samples were collected from six sampling stations in Musiri and Thuraiyur Taluk from June to November 2007. Hydrogen ion concentration of the samples analysed was found to range between 7.8 and 8.1. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) ranged from 928 to 962 mg/1 in Musiri and 1930 to 2102 mg/1 in Thuraiyur and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) from I to 2 mg/1. in Musiri and 3 to 4 mg/1 in Thuraiyur. Fluoride level ranged from 0.58 to 1.27 mg/1. The bicarbonate levels in sampling stations were in the range between 424 and 432 mg/1. It can be concluded that available water from SI-S6 are suitable for the purpose of drinking, the physical and chemical parameters are well with in level stipulated from standards.
