The core task for all PT actors is to guarantee sustainable and affordable mobility. Universally accessible transport services tailored to customer needs and up-to-date extra services should be provided. In order to be able to produce such a high-quality mobility range, transport undertakings require modern vehicle and infrastructure technology as well as skilled and motivated staff with a strong customer focus. Above all, constant quantitative and qualitative improvements to the range of services within the applicable framework conditions demand a clear commitment by the transport undertaking to a crucial factor in a successful PT service: its personnel. The Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Strassen-bahnen Aktiengesellschaft (BOGESTRA), which is one of the biggest public transport service providers in the central Ruhr region, carrying some 140 million passengers annually, shows this kind of appreciation for its own staff. It does so by guaranteeing equitable working framework conditions that offer initial and further training opportunities for selected target groups, development opportunities for individuals, and a safe working environment.
