Advocacy and outreach has been one of UlTP's missions since its inception more than 120 years ago and this has been reinforced with the new mission statement unveiled at the World Congress in Helsinki. Sustainable development has been (but by no means exclusively) the focus to date of much of its work with international agencies and has enabled UITP to give rise to a new level of dialogue about creating sustainable, liveable communities, rather than being a small cog in a transport system dominated by private transport and the automobile industry. This chart is a short overview of some of the major alliances that have been formed with the output to date.
