摘要

Personal mobility is a basic requirement to access economic and social opportunities offered by cities and to fully participate in urban life. The very presence of a public transport service provides access to those who would otherwise be without it. By fulfilling its primary mission of providing mobility to our citizens, public transport also supports wider socio-economic policies. In particular, it helps the achievement of social inclusion objectives more cost efficiently than by other means. The development of partnerships between public transport and social inclusion policies also represents an opportunity to secure external support (including additional funding) for public transport in acknowledgement of its contribution to social inclusion.
