Is ethics best conveyed and instilled by means of normative arguments, moral theories, basic principles, statistical data, personal example, historical narratives, or literary stories? Obviously, and boringly, the answer is, and will always be, all of the above. This journal strives to encompass them all, in one way or another. Finding the right interplay between them, and the proper role for each, is neither obvious nor boring. Looking back upon this year's volume of the Journal of Military Ethics, we find a unity of purpose - addressing seriously and at the cutting edge the most important challenges associated with the legitimate use of armed force - and at the same time a healthy plethora of methods and views.
