Effects of adding transition metals to sputter-deposited Al films were investigated in order to improved corrosion Resistance. Anodic polarization measurements and Environmental tests indicated tat Al films containing Above 1 at/100 of group IV_a~VII_a transition metals Exhibited escellent corrosion resistance. X-ray photo- Electron spectroscopy analysis indicates that passive Films are composed of an oxide mixture containing Al And transition metals or aluminum oxide. Corrosion Behavior of Al films may be influenced by the properties.
