Since the Eichmann trial security has been the key “value” in the military and political strategies of Israel, the “best friend” of the U.S. As Ben Gurion had envisioned it, Eichmann’s capture, trial, and execution would renew the legitimate power of a sovereign Jewish state, transforming Jewish weakness into strength, Jewish impotence into power, Jewish defeat into victory. The lesson of Israel’s Holocaust for the world has since been that “jewish blood would never be abandoned or defenseless again”, no matter the cost of life and treasure to other peoples in the Middle East: for many decades in Palestine and currently also in Iraq and Lebanon.
