Following our article in the July 2014 issue of LPM, the folks at GAMI sent us the following info on current research they have been doing on intercoolers for many years, which includes not only the evaluation of various engine configurations in their extremely sophisticated test cell, but also flying prototypes and finished models. In case you are not aware, GAMI stands for General Aviation Modifications, Incorporated, in Ada, Oklahoma, and these are the highly regarded folks who stirred up the aviation world with the invention of specially calibrated fuel injectors and promoting lean-of-peak operation for "conforming" injected general aviation engines. After seeing the success, Continental came out with their own factory version of calibrated injectors.
