Characterization of the forgeability of 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV steel using processing map

The forgeability of 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV martensitic heat-resistant stainless steel is investigated by using processing maps, based on the isothermal compression of 1Cr11 Ni2W2MoV steel conducted at the deformation temperatures ranging from 1243 K to 1383 K, the strain rates ranging from 0.001 s~(-1) to 10.0 s~(-1), and the height reductions ranging from 30% to 70%. The efficiency of dissipation and the instability parameter that represent the forgeability of 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV steel at different process parameters are investigated. The efficiency of dissipation decreases with the increasing of strain at the deformation temperatures ranging from 1310K to 1383K, and the strain rates ranging from 0.001 s~(-1) to 0.01 s~(-1). The corresponding efficiency of dissipation in instability regions is usually less than 0.32 at the strain less than 0.7. The reasonable process parameters of 1lCr11Ni2W2MoV steel are deformation temperatures of 1243-1300 K and strain rates of 0.001-0.14 s~(-1) at the strain less than 0.7. The best forgeability of 1Cr11Ni2W2MoV steel can be obtained at a deformation temperature of 1243 K and a strain rate of 0.001 s~(-1) in this research.
