With the construction of phase three of its V V Shanghai steelworks, Baoshan Iron & Steel Corp will be increasing its production capacity to 11 million tonnes of molten steel by the end of this century, so consolidating its position as one of the most modern steelworks in China. Baoshan has placed an order . with ARL Applied Research Laboratories S.A. in Switzerland for the supply of an - automatic analysis laboratory to monitor production in its new steelworks. This system has been developed in cooperation with the Herzog Company of Osnabrueck in Germany for all aspects relating to sample transport and preparation. It permits the analysis of all production samples: blast furnace pig iron disks, converter steel cones, double-sided samples from the refining stations and continuous casting facilities, together with slag produced at each stage in the manufacturing process.
