From parading fake stealth fighters to showing off hoax missile launches, countries around the world are using fake weapons and capabilities to project strength and improve their diplomatic heft. Iran in February 2013 caused a stir when it unveiled what it said was the prototype of its stealthy F-313 CONQUEROR (QAHER-313) fighter jet in a launch attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, experts quickly rubbished the aircraft, pointing out the cockpit canopy used poor quality plastic that would create major optical distortion; the size and layout was unfeasible for flight; and the cockpit instruments appeared to come from a general aviation aircraft.
