No coherent case has been made for extending Britain's air campaign into Syria, indeed, the figures in the Institute for Economics and Peace's 2015 Global Terrorism Index suggest that the on-going air strikes are leading to more attacks and boosting recruitment to IS, while a full-scale ground invasion of Syria by western forces would probably delight the leaders of the "caliphate" by fitting their "crusade" narrative. Outcomes that look, at best, like Libya in the first case and Iraq in the second should appeal to nobody. The West cannot continue doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results - that is insane behaviour.
