The biggest challenge for US-based NetNumber is just to address the latent demand in the market for its services, reckons Douglas Ranalli, the company's Founder and Chief Strategy Officer. "To cover all the service providers in the world that could benefit from our technology would require a customer-facing team of several thousand," he says. "We only have 40." NetNumber provides a software platform for operators to "simplify, scale and secure" their signalling control networks, which manage such functions as subscriber profiles, policy servers and access control servers, that control access to the network and track activity. "For service providers, practically any kind of innovation starts with changes to the signalling core," remarks Ranalli.
