After my keynote speech on the topic "Nano Communication Networks" at one of the leading conferences in 2009, Ann Gabriel, the then Publishing Director (now Vice President for Academic and Research Relations) at Elsevier, suggested that we should start a new journal on this subject. A quick conference call with Ann in her New York office, Dave Clark from Amsterdam office and myself in Atlanta followed in Spring 2009. Although I hinted that it might have been a bit too early given the state of the research on this topic, they convinced me to launch the journal at the earliest. As a result, we published the first issue of "NANOCOMNET: Nano Communication Networks" Journal in March 2010. It was likely the first journal to cover this topic at that time.
