The Greek Minister of National Defence, Mr. Spi-lios Spiliotopoulos, presented the basic directions of the Greek defence budget for the year 2005, during the relevant Parliament debate. The Minister spoke strongly against the meth- ods employed by the previous government, with reference to accounting conventions, ultimately leading to a "true administrative suffocation", which is what the new government of "Nea Dimokratia" (the Greek right-wing "New Democracy" party) has had to face.
