摘要

The book, River Futures: an Integrative Scientific Approach to River Repair, is a collection of chapters contributed by geomorphologists, geologists, biologists, social scientists, ecologists, and others and is meant to illustrate the need for cross-discipline approaches to river management, health, and restoration approaches. Brierley and Fryirs describe it as the continuation of a dialogue on river management between ecosystem scientists and social scientists. The editors and collaborators set out to examine the incorporation of science into river management and ultimately river repair, generally defined as the rehabilitation of biophysically achievable and socially acceptable riverine ecosystems and processes.
