摘要

The culmination of rivalry between two southern gas pipelines is approaching; Southern Corridor and Southern Streamrnby which new gas sources become available to Europe. Being aware of its dependence on Russian gas which covers around 40% of its needs, European Union wants to become less dependent by con-rnstructing a gas pipeline publicly known as Nabucco project. This pipeline would enable gas transportation from Middle Asian countries through Turkey passing by the Russian territory. Declaration between European Union and the countries of Caspian region; Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Kazakhstan,Turkmenistan andrnUzbekistan, and Turkey and Egypt was signed in Prague at the beginning of May 2009.
