Pure Dairy Free is an alternative to butter which was found to have very poor awareness outside of the dairy intolerant market. To solve the problem, brand owner Kerry Foods commissioned new branding to widen the potential target group. The new branding is aimed at the broader health-conscious consumer and is not just for people with allergies or dietary problems. An estimated 10% of British people are lactose intolerant, but this level rises substantially among some ethnic groups, making this a highly relevant product for an increasingly multi-ethnic UK. Additionally there are an estimated 600,000 vegans, who eat no dairy products, in the UK - a figure which has doubled in the last 10 years.
