Research on flow inhomogeneity in a hydroturbine is important because it is the main reason for dynamic loads on the rotor blades. If the circumferential flow is inhomogeneous, the blades are subject to variable loads. After each rotation, a blade repeats its path, so the load curves are periodic and can thus be resolved as Fourier series to give the dynamic load spectrum, including the amplitudes.
