RWE Npower has warned that the UK Government must provide more clarity about the UK generation sector's treatment under phase two of the EU Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) to ensure that vital investment decisions for new power stations can be made soon. In this month's interview (see page 41), RWE Npower chief executive Andy Duff says : "We are really waiting for EU ETS Phase Two before we can make investment decisions. The longer we wait, the greater the risk is that there will be a short term supply squeeze - which could be very painful.
