摘要

Although it is broadly believed that genes influence human temperament and the development of neuropsychiatric disorders by acting upon brain circuits that mediate behavior, direct examples of links among genes, personality traits, and neural alterations have proven elusive (1). In this study, we directly demonstrate such a link in Williams syndrome (WS), a rare disorder caused by a well characterized hemizygous deletion on chromosome 7qll.23, and typified by a striking and distinctive hypersocial, but anxious, temperament.
