Chickens incubate for 22 days and live for 7 to 8 years. Some years ago, a doctor said that it takes 50 years to get a new idea into medicine and 100 years to get an old idea out. The ratio-for demonstrably feeble loss control bromides (e.g., Heinrich's triangle) remains to be established. This article is a remarkably special case. Genuinely new ideas in loss control, as opposed to this year's transient 12 flavors of the month, are harder to recognize for development and application. An applicable idea is presented, but it will take time to discover and apply. The article is directed at high-risk situations and industries with complicated integrated systems and the opportunities for catastrophic losses. Could increasing uncertainty really improve safety?
