Hindsight is heinous. Foresight is fatuous. Every now and then, however, observers get things right and while the diaspora and the disenfranchised scratch their heads and wonder 'what went wrong?', we can only say that we told you so. And by heavens... did we tell you so. The technology boom is a bit like the flower power' era of the sixties: anyone who can claim to remember that period was clearly not there. Post apocalypse, the downturn is as debilitating as it is demoralising. The 'new economy' was not especially new and in economic terms―measured according to those old-fashioned fandangles such as profit and loss―it was pretty rough, too. Sing it, Ethel: "there's no business like telco business like no business we know." And there is precious little business right now.
