Members of the British Model Flying Association (if you're not a member, why not?) will be familiar with the name Eric Clark, as he has edited the BMFA Journal since 1993. He is a modeller with many years experience starting in childhood aged eight. I am sure many of us can identify with beginning the hobby in our early years. Like many of us Eric, was encouraged by his father Edward, a Liverpool Police Sergeant. One of Eric's first models was a 'Skyway' kit of an American biplane, possibly a Grumman or Douglas type that was too difficult for him to build! So a mentor was needed and a friend of his father's who worked at an aircraft establishment in Cheshire stepped in to finish the model. It was painted in pre-war colours, a fact that Eric discovered later. His next venture was a solid non-flying Lancaster that he cherished into his teens. Even before he began to build his own models Eric had a rubber powered Hurricane, sadly destined to a short life in the hands of a small boy!
