摘要

The transport of freight by rail is particularly hard pressed to find further ways of rationalising its production in the context of intermodal competition. A project called "SLC"or"Smart rostering of cargo locomotives" is contributing to making efficient use of the infrastructure as the most cost-intensive resource within the railway system and to enhancing the productivity of freight transport in the increasingly demanding mixed-traffic environment. For this, powerful locomotives are deployed in accordance with their technical traction capabilities. At the same time, the mass-specific costs for the use of locomotives, energy and wear are reduced.
