Chilled ready meals form an extremely dynamic market, witnessing double-digit percentage growth almost every year for the last few years. The sector was first launched some 15 years ago but is showing no sign of reaching maturity. Sales increased by 67 per cent between 1993 and 1997, taking market value to f570 mn in 1997. Market drivers include the continuing consumer demand for convenience and the Constant quest for variety. Social factors, including an increase in the number of Single person households and working women-key target groups for the Products-are also boosting demand.
