Get ready for a new acronym from the same people who brought you "ITS."It's "ATM."rnATM stands for "active traffic management" and is not ATMS, which stands for "advanced transportation management systems," and not "asynchronous transfer mode" or those ubiquitous "automated teller machines."rnIf you are going to steal an acronym, think big. So what if every American knows that an ATM is a machine that gives you back your own cash. Just because an acronym is widely used doesn't mean it's unavailable for traffic management engineers.
