摘要

It is reported that there have been an unusual number of deaths and injuries recently caused by electrical supplies that have not been properly isolated during live working on an installation. There are strict procedures and regulations in force and used in practice for safe isolation of all sources of electricity in high voltage (HV) installations with supply voltages above 1,000V a.c. At such voltages live working during maintenance is effectively prohibited and there are procedures in general use that should effectively prevent people from touching hazardous voltages. Responsibilities are assigned and defined by those safety procedures at all levels from managers through supervision to operators to ensure safe working. Even so, accidents still happen, such as the one described at the end of this article.
