The DTI (now DBERR) is to establish a new independent WEEE Advisory Body (WAB) to provide advice on the WEEE Directive and UK Regulations. The role of the WAB is to provide advice to government as an input to the development of UK policy in the following areas:1. Identify areas where improvements could be made to the operation of the UK WEEE system, or where further development is needed to maximise the benefits of the Regulations. Likely areas for initial work include encouraging re-use and moving toward individual producer responsibility, producing recommendations to the government on improving the operation of the WEEE Regulations and assisting in developing industry best practice.
