摘要

Science & Technology is an integral part of human life, needed for its development and sustenance. If we look at the international scenario today, it is not just that science is becoming more linked to technology but it is a change in the whole idea or ideology of science. While research was primarily an academic exercise in the past, it is now getting more linked to economic interests and entwined with industry. When knowledge derived from science and technology is used to generate national wealth then this is called innovation. The notion of innovation is now at the centre stage of science and technology policy of the government as is reflected from the fact that science and technology policy is now integrated with innovation to be named as 'Science, Technology and Innovation policy 2013'. Use of science and technology to innovate for the development of any region requires an understanding of all the available resources such as human resources, agricultural and forest resources etc. in the region. The present paper discusses the resources available in the North-East and how these resources can be used for a sustainable growth and development of the North-East.
