Internalising the concepts of science, which is essential to their understanding, is better achieved through gnosis rather than pedagogy. Gnosis involves exploration and rediscovering a concept on one's own. Science Centres, rather than formal educational institutions, by their very nature, encourage exploration and are therefore a better medium to create scientific understanding. The National Council of Science Museums uses the two-pronged approach of creating exhibits and conducting activities, both of which are aimed at encouraging exploration and thereby communicating science better.
