I have had the pleasure of working with Richard Dornhelm since starting my coastal engineering career at Moffatt & Nichol some 25 years ago. Ever the humble gentleman, Richard was initially reticent about the interview, wondering whether his contributions were "up there" with fellow O'Brien Award recipients. Once we got started with the interview, it was clear to me why Richard Dornhelm deserved this award. His outlook and attitude about the coast and the role it plays in our lives truly embodies the spirit of ASBPA and its mission.
