Acoustically efficient ceilings and walls and the acoustical testing of the building materials that comprise those structures are becoming increasingly important with the growing demand for privacy in office buildings and in multi-unit housing. In particular, office buildings that feature large, open-space plans as well as private office spaces depend on partitions and ceiling systems that absorb or resist the transmission of daily office noises.
