摘要

This paper examines the deployment experiment results of inflatable tubes under microgravity using an airplane parabolic flight. Four inflatable tubes with the polygon folding and one inflatable tube with the conventional Z-folding were used as test articles. Inflatable tubes with diameter of 150 mm and length of 2000 mm were fabricated by using polyimide film as a gas barrier membrane. The deployment experiment was performed in the microgravity environment on a G-Ⅱ airplane. All test articles were inflated and deployed completely by the internal pressure of introduced air. The deployment motions, recorded by the digital video cameras, were analyzed by the three-dimensional data analysis system. It was clarified that the deployment experiment results of the inflatable tubes with tetragonal and hexagonal folding showed more uniform and stable deployment motion than the inflatable tube with Z-folding.
