摘要

The stated aim of this book is to bring experimenters and statisticians to a level at which they can confidently design experiments to meet specific research objectives and analyse the resulting data. The latter is accomplished by showing readers how to analyse data arising from specific design structures using the SAS package, with little attention paid to the mechanics of data analysis. This allows the author to concentrate on the much more difficult matters of identifying the correct analysis to perform and interpreting the output from SAS. On the academic side, it is described as a one-semester course for first year graduate students in applied sciences and engineering, although they need prerequisite knowledge of calculus, matrix algebra, basic statistical theory, linear models and SAS if the book is to be used as the only source of course material. At 582 pages, the book seems rather long for a single semester course, especially if much of the prerequisite material also has to be covered, but there are many tables and figures in the book, so it is not as daunting as it might first appear.
