We examined the effects of nutrients on diseases of sugar beet in laboratory, greenhouse and field small plot trials in 4 repetitions. We analysed the resistance against the pathogens of damping off influenced by nutrients. Field emergence can be improved by 10-15% with the application of optimal artificial fertilisers methods. The interrelationship between nutrients supply through the root and leaf parasites was also studied. We stated that N and NPK nutrition improves the resistance of the varieties. Drought increases susceptibility against diseases to a greater extent than optimal nutrition does reistance. In Hungarian agro-ecological conditions N, NK and NPK foliar fertilisers increase reistance against diseases, thus they result in acquired reistance, complementing them with trace elements is favourable. Synergist mixtures of systemic+contact fungicides and with these synergist complex foliar fertilisers result in maximal yield with resistant varieties. Synergist complex foliar fertilisers lengthen the protoctive effects of fungicides, therefore with their application less spraying is also effective, which is economical and envrionmentfriendly.
