'Find fault'. That is the fifth of six recommendations in Swanee Hunt's very personal analysis of the war in Bosnia. The sixth is 'embrace responsibility'. Hunt is convinced that the United States should have intervened against the Serbs early on in the conflict. Indeed, she makes the strong case that Washington should have intervened even before the conflict started. While she was an advocate of US military intervention in Kosovo later in the 1990s, she now views that as a mistake - a missed opportunity. Non-military intervention earlier would probably have been sufficient.
