Medical textiles is a major growth area within the technical textiles industry and in this sphere SAP polymers (SAPs) can play a major role by helping keep wearer's comfortable and protected. The development of SAP fibres having the ability to absorb water up to 100 times their own volume therefore leads to many end-uses in products such as diapers, tampons, sanitary napkins, medical sponges and baby wipes. Each of these products is characterized by the need for a high capacity of absorbing any liquid or fluid, particularly body fluids.
