Voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) is one of the latest things being talked about in the telecommunications industry. Apart from the benefits like very low call rates, VOIP has evolved also. The first stepping stone was when we did not need to have a computer connected to the Internet to call. Now, you can even have VoIP in wireless mode. VoIP over WiFi is new and the biggest advantage is its cost. Setting up a WiFi network costs a lot less than setting up traditional cell towers, and the additional benefit is that it can be installed within a fraction of time that is required to install radio towers for normal telephony. It might take off any time soon, providing excellent call quality, lower call rates than traditional telephony lines, and higher bandwidth data transfers.
