Cotton's shrinking market share has long been a major concern for everyone engaged with the cotton industry. This concern has, in fact, led to the United States Congress passing the Cotton Research and Promotion Act in 1966 and the subsequent creation of Cotton Incorporated, funded by US cotton growers to ensure that cotton regains its commanding place in the fibre market.
