摘要

The results of different parameters of enzyme reaction such as pH, temperature, calcium ions etc on activity and storage stability of α-amylase wherein DNSA reagent was used to measure activity. The textile industry uses number of hazardous chemicals and is constantly seeking suitable alternatives. Enzymes are eco-friendly and biodegradable catalysts useful in a number of processes. Amylase enzyme is one such eco-friendly alternative used for desizing instead of harsh acids, which are used conventionally. In textile process houses, the desizing efficiency is measured in terms of percentage weight loss of the treated sized textile or by Tegawa scale based on the presence of starch remaining on the desized fabric. By these methods however we cannot find out the enzyme activity accurately. Dinitro Salicylic Acid (DNSA) is a suitable reagent for measuring the amylase activity, finding its main use in the pharmaceutical and food industry.
