The modular Seasnake concept will allow operators to achieve considerable cost savings in the movement of oil in deep sea or coastal trades, says Carl Kountz of Sea Snake LLC in New York. The concept involves barges being coupled together through a ball-and-socket type mechanism and when all the barges are assembled they behave as a single hydro-dynamic unit.
