The remaining waterholes of reaI'steam are oradually drying up. FarRailTours' once-regular steam-based programme has changed over recent years to become a mixture of charter trains plus the few remaining commercially-operated steam operations around the world. Wherever it runs charter trains, Far Rail tries to get as close as possible to the bygone era of steam, offering only authentic-looking trains. This way, it's much more expensive to satisfy the demanding photographer and video maker, for certain - but it's also more rewarding. Passenger trains with passengers aboard give the impression of real trains far more than empty'ghost trains', while goods on a freight train make it look like a real freight train. However, the further we get away from the age of the good old railway, such ideas are becoming frighteningly expensive and very often impossible.
